Cover Shot: Autumn Road Near Kenilworth
Took a slow drive out toward Kenilworth one morning, chasing fog and a bit of quiet. No real plan, just that gut feeling that something was happening out there. The kind of morning where the light feels heavy and soft at the same time — like the sky’s still waking up too.
Hit this stretch of road deep in the hinterland. Trees either side, all lit up in autumn colour — golds, burnt orange, a bit of leftover green hanging on. The leaves had started to fall, carpeting the edges. No cars. No people. Just the road ahead disappearing into the fog.
Snapped the shot standing right in the middle, heart thumping a little, listening for the distant hum of a car that never came. The composition was just there, waiting — the road pulling you in, the trees arching overhead like a tunnel into some quiet story.
That’s the image that landed on the cover of Salt Magazine for Winter 2025. Still feels like a bit of a dream. One of those moments that didn’t need much — just the patience to look, and the luck to be there when it all lined up.
Hinterland mornings hit different in autumn. The colours speak in whispers. And if you’re out there early enough, you might just hear them.
